Sterling Silver ~ Case 1-7/8"
So extremely rare, it
is almost like finding the "Holy Grail"
It is extremely exciting, to be able to find
an "Robert RosKell" pocket watch, in such
beautiful condition.
Robert RosKell started to
make pocket watch's in 1798 in two
locations, first in Liverpool and later in
London, England.
This Sterling Silver
pocket watch, is Lignes size 18, 1-7/8" in
diameter, it has the "Argent" hallmark in
the case that represents a hallmark for
"Silver" and is "case hallmarked" "AM" for
the case maker. It is a key wind and key
set, and in fine running condition. The
silver dial is engine turned, with hand
engraved "village scene, with sail boats"
Such a rare find, that
its circa and condition, qualifies its self
as "Museum Quality". An ideal choice
for any serious collector of rare time
pieces.

This early pocket
watch, created in the early years of
American time pieces, is an absolute amazing
find. Created only six years
after the first pocket watches were produced
by Waltham, and having such a low number, is
indeed an exceptional find. The case and
movement is in excellent condition. There
are fine hair-line cracks in the dial, but
it in no way affects its running condition.
As a matter fact, keeping this original
dial, is tremendously important for the
integrity of this exceptional time piece.
Now a century and a half after its creation,
it still running and keeping excellent time.
Its circa, rarity and
condition, qualifies it as "Museum Quality".
An ideal choice for any serious collector of
rare time pieces.

Created during the Civil

effort on my part to bring it back to its
original state, since it was in
excellent condition. There is one "fine
hair-line" crack in the dial between "12:00
and 3:00", but being the original dial, one
would not want to change and or repair this
minor defect "It is part of its history".
The movement and case are in excellent
condition, you will find very small engraved
initials in the center of the back of the
case, they appear to read "ALB", and
are hardly noticeable. A bit of history to
be treasured and preserved for future
generations.

Among Americas earliest
watch makers, C. W. Wadsworth of
Peekskill, New York was granted a paten for
this particular movement in 1872. This model
was created and presented to "A. P. Miller"
on "Dec. 5, 1874" as it is engraved on the
inside dust cover.
This model does not have
the normal "Lever Set" that one would "Pull
Out", to set the time. This has a "Push
Set". One would push the "Pusher" in
(located at the 3:30 position), it then
locks in place, then set the time, then
press the crown to disengage the time
setting function of the "Pusher button".
A rare unique setting function that
is
rarely seen in any pocket watch.
