"Split-Second Chronograph"
Size 14 ~ 14-K ~
Lever Set ~ Case 2"
This 14-K Yellow Gold
chronograph
is known as a "Chronographe a
rattrapante" in German, or as a
Split-Second Chronographin
English.
With its 5 moving hands, 1 for the
seconds, 1 for the minutes, 1 for the hour
and 2 hands for "split" times of the
chronograph. When pushing the "Crown" both
hands of the split-second chronograph start
moving simultaneously. The first action of
the "rattrapante", the "pusher" stops one of
these hands while the other keeps running.
With the second push the second hand of the
chronograph catches up with the other hand,
and both keep going simultaneously. this
allows you to "read intermediate' or "split
times". This masterful "complication" in
this chronograph pocket watch, was an
equivalent then, as the micro- chip is to
today in its complex technological
advancement.
Chronographs became popular during
WW-I, soldiers would "see the flash"
of the enemies cannon and would start their
chronograph, when they "heard the
sound" of the cannon fire, they
would stop the chronograph. Since
sound travels at 330 meters per second, it
was simple task to calculate the
distance to their enemy from their present
location.
Swiss
made, with no makers name, crafted for the
US market, its case is an "C.W.C. Co.
PLANTE", #1234151. So well crafted, that
this exceptional Chronograph will run
42 hours on one winding.

Bulova 5th. Ave. Curvex
21 Jewel
Movement
During the depression
this was one of the most desired wrist watch's
that few could afford.
This 21 Jewel, Bulova 5th.
Ave. Curvex is in excellent running
condition. The case is 1-3/4" long (45.71 m/m) x
3/4" wide (19.81 m/m) and is also in excellent
condition. Its crystal is scratch free,
while the dial does have a few "spots" (this
is to be expected with any watch that is over 70
years old).
The Curvex was one of
the most desired "Tank" style wrist watch's ever
made. An extraordinary watch, complete with a
new "Pig skin" leather strap. A bit of history,
and elegance that will bring welcomed comments
when ever it is worn.

One of my personal
favorites, out of all the pocket watches
that I own, I just love this classic
1930 style. This pocket watch is in
beautiful condition, crafted in 10-K Rolled
Gold Plate, with a 17 jewel movement, size
8. The back cover is engraved with the
initials "J K", but for "true collectors"
who appreciate fine Antique & Estate time
pieces, this is no major problem. With a
little luck "it might just be your initials"
or someone that you know? As always, in
excellent visual and running condition.
