1.08 ct. Diamond Necklace

Someone's great grandfather had exceptional taste when he had this Pave-Set diamond necklace designed and created nearly 60 years ago. Pave-Set, refers to the item being "paved with diamonds", a older classic way of creating quality jewelry, that is back in vogue today.

This exceptional pendant was hand-made and was not a "production-item". It is 14.68 x 14.30 m/m (9/32" x 9/32"). There are thirty-six (36) high quality .03 ct. diamonds that are VS-1 grade, G-color, equaling 1.08 ct. total diamond weight. The pendant is suspended on a 16-1/2" long X 1.09 m/m wide chain with quality clasp. Its total gross weight (Diamonds & Gold) is 5.5 grams and is in excellent condition and far superior and lower in cost as compared to any similar-made item made today.

The discovery of King Tutankhamun tomb by Howard Carter (An amateur archaeologist),  while searching in the "Valley of Tombs" on November 5, 1922, may have been the important archaeological find in modern history.

King Tut died in mid January, 1343 BC, because his skull was bashed in and since only a person of great importance could get near enough to harm him, the conclusion was that the king was murdered.

The huge abundance of pure gold artifacts in King Tut tomb was the most valuable archaeological discovery ever found.

This large pendant is crafted in 14-K Yellow gold, it is 46.60 m/m long x 36.73 m/m wide (1-7/8" long x 1-1/2" wide), and weighs 28.4 grams. The headdress has enameling in two colors, azure-blue and turquoise-blue and is masterfully crafted.

The pendant is suspended on a 18" long strand of Lapis Beads that are 4.90 m/m in diameter with a 14-K yellow gold clasp. The total gross weight (Pendant & Lapis) is 43.2 grams.

This exceptional creation was part of an estate that I purchased, thus I cannot verify its exact age, but more than likely it is probably circa 1960-70.

Crafted in 18-K yellow gold, this necklace is 17" long, with a gross weight of 67.4 grams (43.2 Pennyweight). Starting in the back there is a double tong hidden clasp with a fold over safety clasp, then the graduating hearts gently taper from 8.09 to 10.00 m/m as the necklace approaches the center diamond and ruby heart ornamentation.

 The large center heart, is 31.35 m/m wide (1-1/4"), it contains 27 diamonds ranging from .015 ct. to .07 ct., high quality VS grade, G colors. On the upper part of the heart are two cabochon rubies weighing .40 ct. each, for a total of 1.60 cts Total Weight.

One Vermont evening while viewing stars and the Milky Way through my telescope, I was inspired to design and create this necklace, that represents the same stars that we all view each night.  The pendant is 1-1/8" long (28.95 m/m) x 11/32" (18.20 m/m) wide x 3/16'thick (4.07 m/m). It is 14-K Yellow Gold and contains 9 diamonds equaling .40 ct. SI, G-H. Its chain is a 20" heavy Wheat Chain (chosen for its strength) that is 1.32 m/m thick. The total gross weight is 10.2 grams. Lively bright diamonds, that these "web pictures" do not justify their quality.

I knew that I wanted the stone to be the primary focal point, thus I chose this simply elegant setting to hold this exceptional stone. I knew when I first saw this fantastic red cabochon 5.21 ct. Rubellite (Red Tourmaline) that I wanted to set it into a rather simple setting. The object was to have the "stone" as the major visual factor and not the setting.
